Blendline Magazine now has a podcast associated with it, featuring Tom Magnay and friend of BlendLine, Sion Ellis, of Allycat Wheels and Automax Garage.

Gobble De-Clutch Podcast Episode 1 is now live on the BlendLine YouTube channel, (listen below) and is an introduction to the podcast, the podcast hosts, and a bit of a chat about a nice lady called Barbara and her old Mitsubishi. Also discussed are Volvos, Mozart cassettes, WRC, Jeremy Vine, labradors and collecting old tat.

The third round of the BlendLine Kart Series 2021 took place this past weekend at a small kart track in remote South Wales - Pontypool to be precise. Attracting 3 new entrants to the series, in the form of Tom Hill, Josh Klein and Alistair Mason (bringing a total of 3 Alistairs to the BLKS grid for this round!)

A revised one-off format consisting of an endurance round was the order of the day on this occasion, to give a break from the usual sprint race format. 

The 8 drivers took the grid for a 10 minute practise session, in dry conditions but with threatening skies overhead.

In 1976 a British company called Allycat Wheels was set up, with the purpose in mind to supply the ever changing scene in the UK at the time.

It had been set up as a brand of the Two Gates Wheels company based in Telford, who were also known as Telcast. The company changed its name a few times, and the details are vague, but they were formed from a casting company from whom Allycat was born.

Organising a full blown rally post-lockdown is harder than you imagine. I know this because I have had a very small input on the organisation phase of a large BRC and BTRDA rally which takes place later this month, which will be the first proper gravel rally to take place in Wales since February 2020.

Self admittedly driver Simon Dalton stated that the shakedown was as much for him as it was for the car! Upon arrival at the test location, Forest Experience Rally School, the team promptly de-trailered the car and fired the engine up. Once warm, Dalton and myself set off around the 2 mile rally school loop to familiarise Dalton with the stage - he's been here before but around 7 years ago and the landscape has changed dramatically since then with not only forestry work but also the condition of the track itself.
